ABANTWANABETHU & STARSAVER LESSONS AT AJ MWELASE HIGH SCHOOL IN LAMONTVILLE A.J. Mwelase Secondary School in Lamontville township, south of Durban was the next recipients of the Ithala and Lion Match collaboration that received shoes and literacy lessons. The handover was rolled out on Friday 19 April 2024. One of the key aims of the Starsaver lessons is to instill a discipline of putting money aside no matter how small the amount. To achieve this, we use real life examples of saving just a small amount and then demonstrate how this can grow over a period of time. IDFC’s message is simple: starting small makes it easier to increase savings as you grow up and money becomes more available. This is the first step in the journey to financial freedom
Ithala collaboration with Lion Match brought joy to the Learners of Dendethu Primary school in Mandeni. This formed part of a Ithala’s stakeholder engagement interventions with Amakhosi and Traditional Leaders in areas where Ithala operates. The school and need for support was identified and nominated by Inkosi Mathonsi of Mathonsi Traditional Council. A total of 150 learners received new school shoes and polish. Sanitary towels were also donated to the school in an effort to ensure that no girl child stays at home due to lack of adequate sanitary towels as this impacts negatively on their learning progress. #MakingItHappenTogether #SisonkeSenzaKwenzeke #Abantwanabethu
