DEVELOPMENT EFFICIENCIES

The Ithala Trade Centre is seen as a development hub, situated at the gateway to the city, providing easy access and ample secure parking.  It boasts an excellent setting, surrounded by mixed use buildings and a modern network of canals and is well located in terms of shopping amenities, conference facilities and other institutions.

The Trade Centre is designed and decorated along modern classic lines, generally open plan making best use of the floor space and featuring environmentally friendly fittings to reduce operating costs.  Secure parking is available on two levels and at street level and provision has been made for restaurants and coffee shops on the ground floor.

Not only is this a game changer project for Ithala, but it is also a significant boost for economic development in KwaZulu-Natal, unlocking the potential for entities in development to work together for the benefit of the Province.

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Michael Mabuyakhulu, along with Ithala Board members, Executives and other key stakeholders on the project attended a launch and site visit, held recently at a venue on Durban’s Point Waterfront.

“Our property portfolio is central to our development mandate of job creation and economic upliftment of local communities. We see the Ithala Trade Centre as a flagship in our commercial portfolio and believe that this project will enhance the area by contributing to mixed use development, regeneration and growth on the Point Waterfront”, stated Yvonne Zwane, Ithala Group Chief Executive, in her welcome address.

During his keynote address, Mr Mabuyakulu applauded Ithala, not only on the establishment of the Trade Centre development but also on the good work the organisation is doing in terms of its commitment to funding business enterprises and providing banking services to communities in the Province.
