As a provincial development agency, Ithala’s Corporate Social Investment and
Sponsorship programme is designed to be developmental in nature and is geared to
support specific initiatives which have been identified within the broad
categories of financial literacy, entrepreneurship and business skills
Ithala maintains close relationships with township and rural schools through
financial literacy projects aimed at promoting a culture of savings, providing
work experience opportunities through various initiatives, participating in
career expos and offering bursaries. When the plight of Jabulani Primary School
was highlighted in the Witness newspaper earlier this year, Ithala’s CSI unit
sprang into action by visiting the school, meeting Principal Mrs BP Mfusi, and
confirming the dire need for uniforms.
“Ithala Group CSI is committed to investing in projects that support our
development mandate and that bring our company’s corporate brand values to life.
The handover of uniforms to Jabulani Primary School, through our Adopt a School
campaign, is indicative of our commitment to making a measurable improvement in
the lives of the disadvantaged communities in which we operate”, said Ithala
Marketing and Communications Executive, Themba Mathe.
During the handover, Mr Ndlovu the HOD speaking on behalf of School Principal
Mr BP Mfusi commented, “We thank Ithala for this wonderful opportunity given to
our learners, creating a platform and a culture of learning as well as a
positive environment in which to focus on studies rather than on school
