As part of its focus on youth development, Ithala participates in the annual Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day initiative.
Since being introduced in South Africa by Cell C in 2003, the campaign has influenced the lives and career choices of girl learners throughout the country.
Endorsed by the National Departments of Education and Communications, this project provides girls in grades 10, 11 and 12 with real-life platforms to broaden their horizons and aspirations about the impact they can make to South Africa’s socio-economic landscape.
Companies are encouraged to put together their own programmes. Ithala Corporate Services Centre hosts girl learners from local High Schools in Umlazi and Ithala Limited and its Branches host learners from various areas throughout KwaZulu-Natal.
The purpose of the project is to expose learners to the organisation’s working environment and share insights, through presentations or job observation, on a variety of career options available.
Ithala sees this project as part of its mission to drive economic development and empowerment by making a positive contribution toward influencing future women leaders in business.
